Managed Services Engineers at Talix play a critical role in driving customer success by delivering proactive, reliable, and secure IT services to our managed services clients.

This role demands a broad, adaptable technical skill set and the confidence to apply it across a wide range of client environments, tools, and technologies.
Security operations and incident response are core to this role. You’ll monitor client environments, respond to threats, and lead remediation efforts while keeping client disruption to a minimum.

Talix operates as a Managed Services Provider (MSP); you’ll regularly encounter unfamiliar hardware, software, and customer-specific technologies. Strong analytical thinking and a willingness to learn quickly are essential. Talix is built on a collaborative, team-driven culture. Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provides technical support to our clients.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends and developments in technology.
  • Manage IT infrastructure.
  • Manage user access accounts on the client’s systems.
  • Provide help desk services.

Skill/Abilities:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Thorough understanding of business computing technology, software, and hardware.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Active Directory, Office 365, Remote Monitoring Tools, Backup Technologies, VMWare/HyperV, and VPN.
  • Proficient with or able to quickly learn software and applications.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure.

Proficiency in the following areas is expected:

  • Microsoft 365:  Intune management, Conditional Access, and Office 365.
  • Networking: Switches, firewalls, and general troubleshooting.
  • Endpoint Support: Windows and macOS workstation management.
  • Microsoft Server: Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP.
  • Security Operations: Monitoring, incident response, and remediation.
  • Adaptability: Quickly onboard to new tools and client environments.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to be an effective phone communicator and listener.
  • Ability to work in person.

Systems Engineers at Talix are technical leaders responsible for designing, stabilizing, and improving the infrastructure and security platforms our clients rely on. This role focuses on solving complex, non‑routine problems, leading technical initiatives, and serving as an escalation point for advanced network, systems, and cybersecurity challenges.

While Talix operates as an MSP, Systems Engineers take deeper ownership of client environments—evaluating architecture, identifying risk, and driving long‑term improvements. You’ll collaborate closely with peers to guide remediation, establish standards, and continuously elevate service delivery.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Support and troubleshoot client technology environments.
  • Research and apply modern technologies and best practices.
  • Design, deploy, and maintain client IT infrastructure.
  • Implement and manage security controls to ensure the integrity, availability, and confidentiality of client systems.

Skill/Abilities:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Systems Engineer or in a comparable technical role.
  • Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, administering, and supporting cloud-based solutions, including:
    • Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365 / Office 365, SharePoint
    • Google Workspace
    • Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Strong expertise in Microsoft on-premises solution architecture and administration, including:
    • Windows Server (2016–2025): installation, configuration, data migration, and ongoing administration
    • Active Directory and Group Policy Objects (GPO)
    • Microsoft Exchange
    • Microsoft SQL Server
  • Proficiency in LAN design, configuration, and best practices utilizing enterprise networking platforms (e.g., FortiNet, HPE/Aruba, Ruckus, Cisco).
  • Experience implementing and managing network perimeter security solutions, including firewalls, IDS, and IPS platforms (e.g., FortiNet, Sophos, Cisco, SonicWall, Palo Alto).
  • Hands-on experience deploying and administering virtualization platforms such as VMware and/or Microsoft Hyper-V.
  • Experience installing, configuring, and supporting physical servers, SANs, and NAS systems (e.g., HPE, Dell, IBM, Synology).
  • Knowledge of enterprise backup solutions and ongoing backup management (e.g., Veeam, Arcserve, Veritas).
  • Experience designing and implementing disaster recovery and business continuity solutions.
  • Familiarity with endpoint protection, patch management, email security, and systems monitoring technologies.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical concepts.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with both technical and non-technical (business) stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and manage responsibilities while onsite at client locations throughout Northeast Ohio.
  • Relevant certifications preferred, including but not limited to:
    • FortiNet NSE
    • Cisco (CCT, CCNA, CCNP)
    • CompTIA
    • HPE / Aruba
    • Microsoft (MCSA, MCSE, Azure, Microsoft 365)
    • Ruckus
    • VMware
